One Year On—What a Ride!

Trailblazing Community: GWM Tank 4WD Club of Queensland Marks One Year with Mud, Mateship, and Momentum

Twelve months ago, I had an idea. A simple one, really—to create a space where new and seasoned 4WDers could come together, explore the tracks, and share in something bigger than just a hobby. Fast forward to today, and the GWM Tank 4WD Club of Queensland has grown into something far greater than I ever imagined. And our 1st-Year Celebration at Janowen Hills Camping & 4WD Park proved exactly that.

While I couldn’t be there in person—thanks to a frustrating run of bad luck with my health—I was there in spirit. And let me tell you, watching the event unfold through photos, videos, and messages filled me with nothing but pride.

Celebrating Our Community

Seeing so many smiling faces, new friendships formed, and first-time drivers stepping out of their comfort zones—that's what this club is all about. Take Sandeep Dalvi, for example. Two weeks into owning his Tank 300 Diesel, and already out on the tracks, grinning from ear to ear. That’s the kind of confidence and community we’ve built here.

A Club Run by Legends

A huge shoutout to Greg Kivela and Sal Bush for stepping up and running the show. I’m so grateful for the leadership, time, and passion they put into the weekend. Everything went smoothly, from convoy coordination to the epic raffle draw.

And to our incredible members—thank you. Whether you’ve been here since day one or just joined, your support, enthusiasm, and willingness to get involved is what keeps this club alive and thriving.

Gratitude to Our Sponsors

We couldn’t have done it without the continued support of our amazing sponsors:

  • Westpoint Autos,
  • Savage Tech Australia,
  • Carbon Offroad Australia.

Their contributions not only help us run events like this, but they also reinforce our sense of community by backing us every step of the way. Thanks to them, our raffle winners walked away with some awesome gear:

1st Prize – Westpoint Autos Yeti Cooler: Jordan Nizeti-Panebianco

2nd Prize – Carbon Offroad Recovery Kit: Justin De Villiers

3rd Prize – $200 Savage Offroad Gift Voucher: Sal Bush

Proud Supporters of The Harrison Payne Initiative

Our club is also proud to back The Harrison Payne Initiative, an important cause advocating for road and off-road safety. As we continue to grow, we remain committed to promoting safe and responsible 4WDing across Queensland and beyond.

What’s Next?

We’re just getting warmed up.

Later this month, we’re heading back to Great Sandy National Park for another unforgettable adventure.

Then, in September, we’re making history with our first interstate convoy to Central West 4WD Park near Dubbo, NSW—an epic five-day trip full of tracks, pubs, and mateship.

If you’ve been sitting on the fence, now’s the time to get involved. Join the club, dust off the rig, and come see what all the hype is about.

Final Thoughts

To everyone who’s helped make this first year a success—thank you. From committee members to first-time drivers, from our generous sponsors to the legends behind the scenes—you’ve helped create something truly special.

Here’s to Year Two. Bigger trips, more mud, and even better memories.

See you out there on the tracks,

Mitch Luxford
